Quiz No. 3 Preparation Recommendations

My Recommendations:
  • use that image as a reference for what you may be doing on Saturday's Quiz
  • have a Rhino + Photoshop file ready for it with the layouts ready to start
  • have a materials library with a varied set of materials ready for use, seeing as how you doing know what materials we will be using on the Quiz
  • have your Layers in Rhino to already have the desired materials set to them, as that step will save you some time
  • do NOT wait until Saturday to do these things as Saturday is not the time to figure these things out or worry about setting these things up.    They should be ready at your disposal beforehand so that your main preoccupation is building the model
  • Read the instructions on the Quiz beforehand as well so that you know exactly what you need to do!
  • I also recommend practicing with the posted Sample Image or with your Assignment 5 + 6 model interiors / fixtures to better prepare for the Quiz
Good Luck!

Hello Professor, I tried to turn my Indesign file into a PDF but it would not let me do so. I tried exporting it and opening it in Photoshop but nothing worked. I did do the work so im sending you the Indesign file, I hope this will at least give me some credit or a chance to make it up. Thank you.

hello professor,I have been trying to send my file, but it too big, I tried doing what you posted but I tried, and it didn't really work can you tell me how can I make my file smaller?
May we submit the assignment as completed today for comment towards improvement?

Assignment 5 + 6 Postponed 1 Week, August 1

Good Afternoon Class:

After much deliberation, I have decided to postpone Assignment 5 + 6 for next Wednesday, August 1.  I highly suggest that you take this time to improve your renderings and better prepare yourselves for Saturday's Quiz.  Remember, quality + completeness of said assignments + quiz will be graded more harshly than before seeing as how these are you final assignments for the semester.

Note: The Midterm is still due tonight, Wednesday (July 25) by 11 59 PM!

Note 2: Try to do a test print of at least a few sheets (11" x 17" landscape view) by Saturday to be certain that everything is coming out all right!

Please post or comment below for any questions that you may have.

A request

Professor, I have a request to make, can you please change the day of the Assignment #5+6?. Due to many details that take a lot of time and some difficulties related to the learning process of the software.
I am already on the rendering phase using Sun Light objects on V-Ray, and I discovered some issues with how objects on top of each other render (I dissembled my drawing and try to find out what were the issues that I have with v-ray while I was rendering. It looks that the software has some bug that cause the problem. That took two full days from my assignment, and now I have a workaround, so I’m ready to continue but I need some extra time to finish it up.

Bonus Class this Wednesday 7-18-12 @ 7 PM Sharp!

Extra Class:
By popular request, I am offering you a bonus class this Wednesday, 7-18-12 @ 7 PM, to those of you who feel the need or would just like to improve your models / renderings.  This does not mean that you should not work until then.  I am working with what you already have, therefore you should produce as much as possible before then.  This means models, diagrams, test renderings saved as JPEG's or PNG's.  I also recommend test prints for the midterm / final be done so that I may review what you have.

Meeting Place:
I will be meeting with the class at 7 PM on the first floor of the Green Library at FIU.  We will meet by the television / seating area at the North end of the library.  From there, we will find a place to have our class.  This will most likely take place on the 2nd Floor (East Side).

Reply in Comments Below:
Please reply in the comments if you are going to be there on Wednesday night.  If you have any specific questions, add them in the comments as well so that I will be better prepared to answer them on Wednesday.  Do NOT show up with nothing to discuss.  Keep working hard until we meet.  See you then!

DrewM_Assignment_I4

I noticed while rendering that the objects look slightly skewed because of the angle that the camera is at and some of the objects are farther away so the perspective looks different. So I was wondering how I can make the objects look similar?
